Why The Chicken Crossed The Road: Tips To Creating A Stellar Comic Strip

Comic strips often bring up a strong sense of nostalgia for many as generations have grown up reading comic strips in newspapers and magazines. Technology has now provided a digital platform to the world of comic strips, allowing for a convenient way to catch up on a favorite piece. When creating a comic strip, it is important to first consider a few factors that will play into how successfully it ultimately performs. As the use of animals as characters in comic strips have proven to become a popular theme over the years, a storyline involving farm animals can be used as an excellent example.

One of the first and most obvious factors that should be considered when creating a comic strip is pinpointing a target audience. In the case of a comic strip that focuses on farm animals, there are several audiences that could be interested. Older generations or those who reside in more rural areas would obviously identify with the setting and children would likewise be attracted to the inclusion of animals. Depending on who the creator would like the comic strip to ultimately target, the type of humor can be identified and appropriately applied. Jokes that go over the heads of children, for instance, would most likely find favor with adults.

Relatability is another element of any successful comic strip. Though many may not immediately find themselves relating to farm animals, for instance, they may find themselves relating to the problems the characters undergo instead. Mundane issues and everyday problems can find a home within a humorous setting through an audience who relates, regardless of the characters or setting portrayed. For example, a cow that is downtrodden with a case of the Mondays could certainly find favor with those beginning their work week. Even if the setting is completely opposite of who the target audience is, in this way they are able to relate with the characters and can find humor in their situations.

With these considerations in mind, the creator has placed focus on the most important factor of all, the reader. Through a comic strip that readers are drawn towards in humor, setting and characters, a successful run as a strip can be obtained. By placing the reader in the shoes of the characters who are portrayed, even in the case of cows and chickens, a sense of sympathy and warmth can be obtained. With these steps put into place, a humorous comic strip will soon be enjoyed by a thankful audience, even down on the farm! Start your farm animal comic strips today.

About Me

Creating More Art

After weeks of trying to add a little spark of something into my life, I realized that there were a few things that I could do to add color back into my world. I began working with a friend of mine to create art each and every day, and it was interesting to see what happened. Before I knew it, I was able to express myself using a few different mediums, and I was really pleased with how I felt. I wanted to start a new blog all about creating art each and every day, and knowing how to make something new.
